Zac Waddington

Zac Waddington grew up in Chilliwack, BC on the banks of the Fraser River. He attained a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Manitoba and worked briefly as a junior wildlife biologist in northern Manitoba. His passion for animals, and particularly farmed-wild interactions led him to pursue a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, which he attained with distinction in 2015. During the course of his studies he developed a keen interest in aquaculture and spent time shadowing and being mentored by veterinarians and pathologists in BC. Following graduation from veterinary college, Zac moved to New Zealand where he worked in rural mixed practice for two years. Zac joined DFO in July 2017 as their Lead Aquaculture Veterinarian and has been riding the steep learning curve ever since.
