    Dr. Jesse Ronquillo, a multi-awarded aquaculture scientist, is a Canadian educator, researcher and extension worker in the field of Aquaculture. He has developed and published important aquaculture technologies that are featured in several professional websites worldwide. His expertise includes hatchery production and husbandry of marine and freshwater finfish, shellfish (mollusk, crustacean, echinoderm), and algae. He finished B.Sc. Fisheries / Aquaculture degree as head of his class or a cum laude. He obtained M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Japan as a Monbusho (Japanese Ministry of Education) Scholar; and, has been awarded academic / research Fellowships by JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science), Fulbright, NSERC and UNESCO in Japan, USA, Canada, and China, respectively. He has taught aquaculture courses in several universities in Asia and North America. Under United Nations (i.e., FAO, UNDP, UNESCO) training programs, he has acted as an aquaculture trainer of many international fishery / aquaculture officers. He joined DFO/UBC Centre for Aquaculture and Environmental Research in 2004 as NSERC Fellow; then, he was hired as Assistant Professor / Associate Professor of Aquaculture at Nova Scotia Agricultural College from 2007 until 2012. Currently, he works with Viva Aquaculture and Seafood Distribution Ltd., a BC-based Canadian company, as Chief Aquaculture Scientist / Consultant and is a faculty member of North Island College supporting the development of aquaculture program funded by the BC Government.
