    Jennifer Hooper, Manager Indigenous Business Development

    Jennifer works in the International Trade Services Division of British Columbia Ministry of Jobs, Trade and Technology, where she advances international trade plans and opportunities for Indigenous clients. Trade Services supports and guides BC companies that are ready to enter into international markets, and through its international Trade Investment offices provides services to international companies that are seeking to set up business in BC.

    In her role Jennifer liaises with clients from British Columbia, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous, and also with international companies.  More recently she is becoming more involved in an evolving International Indigenous trade network.

    Prior to joining the government, Jennifer worked in the field of Indigenous Economic Development in various capacities for the past 25 years.  Jennifer has had the pleasure of working in various sectors including: electricity generation and transmission; international electricity trading, midstream oil and gas industry; mining; post-secondary education.  Her experience includes:

    • funding small business start-ups and expansions
    • proposal writing
    • program development
    • project and financial management
    • Indigenous engagement on major projects
    • Indigenous procurement on major projects
    • And now international trade.

    Jennifer has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University and is a member of Tahltan Nation.  She is a wife and mother of 3 young men.
