BC Salmon Farmers Association – Exploring Priorities for Marine Environmental Research on BC’s Coasts^

Monday
June, 11
4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

In 2015, the BC Salmon Farmers Association developed the Marine Environmental Research Program (MERP), committing $1.5 million in research funds between 2015 and 2020, to be utilized in collaborations with government, academic and independent research institutions. The purpose of the program has been to gain a better understanding of the marine environment and B.C.’s wild marine species, particularly wild salmon stocks, and to develop research partnerships. Priorities to guide decisions on project funding were set through a series of workshop consultations.

In partnership with the BC Seafood Expo, the Association will conduct a workshop to discuss priorities for this important initiative. The workshop will be an opportunity for researchers, government and industry stakeholders to share their expertise and evaluate research priorities.
